Power has been restored to southwest Boulder after a widespread outage left many traffic lights disabled Monday morning, the city of Boulder said.

Xcel Energy spokeswoman Michelle Aguayo said the cause of the outage was a tree that knocked down a line near 17th and Athens streets, near Boulder High School.

Boulder police spokeswoman Kim Kobel said officers directed traffic at major intersections in the area west of 30th Street and south of Colorado Avenue.

Power was restored around 7:50 a.m., and city officials said all traffic lights are functioning normally.
