On the one-year anniversary of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant meltdown in Japan, public radio stations nationally will carry a four-part documentary series focusing on nuclear energy issues.
“BURN: An Energy Journal,” hosted by veteran correspondent Alex Chadwick, launches locally at 2-3 p.m. Saturday (repeated at 2 p.m. Sunday) on KCFR (90.1 FM).
An Earth Day hour titled “The Hunt for Oil” will be broadcast to coincide with the two-year anniversary of the April 20 Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
A third hour, slated for the Fall, is dedicated to the promise of energy efficiency.
The final hour, intended as an election special for broadcast in October, considers whether the U.S. should adopt a comprehensive national energy policy rather than a patchwork of laws and regulations.
“BURN: An Energy Journal,” from the Public Radio Energy Project, is produced by SoundVision Productions in partnership with APM’s Marketplace and The Story, and PBS’ Newshour, and distributed by American Public Media.
