LAS CRUCES, N.M.—Authorities say they’ve made an arrest in the 2010 death of a Las Cruces man whose body was found in the southern New Mexico desert.
Investigators say 52-year-old Arnold Hofeldt was a person of interest in the death of 46-year-old Kermit E. Feazelle, whose body was found near I-25 on Nov. 16, 2010.
They say Hofeldt agreed to speak with investigators about the case in January but failed to show for a polygraph test.
A search was launched, and deputies in El Paso County, Colo., found Hofeldt earlier this month during a traffic stop.
Doña Ana County sheriff’s officials then traveled to Colorado and questioned Hofeldt. They say he admitted he was mad at Feazelle over a drug deal and struck him several times.
The state medical examiner says Feazelle died of blunt force trauma.
Hofeldt is awaiting extradition to New Mexico. He faces an open count of murder and tampering with evidence.
