BOULDER — City Council members were generally supportive Monday night of a FasTracks proposal that would provide bus rapid transit soon, while keeping the northwest rail line to Longmont in plans.
But council members at a study session Monday also emphasized the need for guarantees from the Regional Transportation District that Boulder will receive what’s promised.
“We have been very clear that we need some guarantees,” said Mayor Matt Appelbaum. “It’s going to get built in this time frame. You have to stop spending money and saying, ‘Sorry, there’s no more left for you.’ “
The proposal being pitched by RTD staffers is to use a “hybrid” approach to completing the northwest rail line from Denver to Longmont.
