A suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of an 18-year-old earlier this week near Manual High School.
Mannie Lee Legrand, 20, who was already in custody in Denver on a probation violation, is now a suspect in the shooting death of De’Quan Walker-Smith, said John White, a Denver police spokesman.
On Monday afternoon, Walker-Smith was fatally shot on the corner of East 29th Avenue and Franklin Street near Manual High School.
Walker-Smith was shot once in front of Fuller Park, which is immediately north of the school.
Legrand was taken into custody Wednesday. Court records show his warrant for the parole violation was issued in November 2010. He is being investigated for suspicion of first-degree murder, White said.
Legrand had been released from prison on parole after he was sentenced to serve four years for a felony burglary case from August 2009.
