IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television, a service that delivers movies and TV shows over a closed or dedicated fiber-optic network. It often requires special equipment such as a set-top box and is offered by some phone companies. Internet TV refers to a service that delivers video content over the open Internet. The content can be viewed on an Internet-connected computer or TV set via a Web browser or other software program. An example of IPTV is CenturyLink’s Prism, which is not yet available in the Denver area. An example of Internet TV is Hulu.
