COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Courtney Hicks, the 2011 U.S. junior champion, has begun training with coach Ken Congemi in El Segundo, Calif.

She will continue to receive input from former coach John Nicks and choreographer Phillip Mills.

Hicks, sixth at the 2011 world juniors, broke her leg last October at a competition in Italy after winning the junior Grand Prix event in Australia the previous month. She underwent surgery and was sidelined for the remainder of the 2012 season. She resumed training in February after receiving clearance from doctors.

Hicks says Thursday she chose Congemi “due to his excellent technical skills and international experience with numerous skaters.”

Congemi has worked with 2012 Olympic champion Evan Lysacek among U.S. and international medalists.
