Passenger traffic at Denver International Airport dipped slightly in January, dropping 0.6 percent to a total of 3,905,138 . There were 3,928,336 travelers in January 2011.
“DIA has seen consistent, positive growth over the course of the last few years,” aviation manager Kim Day said in a statement. “The slight dip in January’s passenger traffic is likely a result of carrier capacity reductions, but we’re still cautiously optimistic that we’ll continue to see essentially flat traffic in the coming months.”
Airport officials reported that there was a 5.1 percent decrease in flight operations in January – from 52,223 in 2011, to 49,541 in 2012.
Cargo operations also decreased, dropping 7.7 percent with 36,969,503 pounds of total cargo handled in January 2012, compared to 40,074,187 pounds during the same month last year.
