EAGLE COUNTY – — The Colorado Department of Revenue Wednesday provided some good news about sales tax collections in Eagle County. The latest report, which covers sales taxes collected in February, shows solid gains across the county and its towns.
Information from Tom Hyatt of the Eagle County Finance Department shows that collections in unincorporated Eagle County — which includes Beaver Creek and Edwards — increased by 23 percent from the same period in 2011.
By town, the increases were:
• Gypsum: 19 percent.
• Avon: 15 percent.
• Vail: 14 percent.
• Minturn: 12 percent.
• Eagle: 10 percent.
• Basalt: 7 percent.
• Red Cliff: 5 percent.
While the gains in most towns were measured in thousands, or hundreds of thousands, Red Cliff’s sales tax bump added up to $99.70.
