FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A passenger who died after a vehicle crashed into the Cache la Poudre (kash-luh-POO’-der) River in northern Colorado was from Virginia.

Larimer County coroner’s officials say 35-year-old Robert A. Weddle of Radford, Va., wasn’t wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle crashed Tuesday. They said Wednesday that he died within seconds of the crash northwest of Fort Collins.

The crash also injured the driver. The driver’s name hasn’t been released.

The Coloradoan reports ( ) investigators are trying to determine why the vehicle veered off Colorado Highway 14 into the water.
