An 81-year-old author and retired Ivy League professor who lives in Carbondale was arrested at his home Monday on sex assault charges involving a child who is a relative in Chaffee County.
Paul Eugene Breer, 81, faces one count of sexual assault on a child by a person in position of trust and one count of incest, both felonies.
Deputies seized several computers and other electronic devices from Breer’s home after his arrest, the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Department said today in a statement.
“Authorities have reason to suspect that other persons have been victimized by Breer and are actively attempting to identify them,” the agency stated.

Breer is being held on $100,000 bond in the Eagle County Jail awaiting transfer to Chaffee County.
Court records state the alleged offense happened on April 20. Other public records indicate Breer moved to Colorado from Orange County, Vt., in 2006.
