GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—U.S. Forest Service officials have approved several projects planned at the Beaver Creek ski area as it prepares to host the 2015 alpine world skiing championships.

The projects include a new women’s downhill racecourse, a women’s giant slalom racecourse using portions of existing ski trails on Grouse Mountain and modifications to an existing men’s downhill racecourse.

Forest Service officials also approved replacing Red Tail Camp, which serves food and drinks, and adding a water tank to supply the new Red Tail Camp facility and Beano’s Cabin.
