The giants of the sport will top the bill at UFC 146 on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas — in this case, literally. Brazil’s Junior dos Santos will defend his heavyweight title against Frank Mir in the five-round main event. It’s one of five heavyweight bouts on the pay-per-view card.

And it’s great news for fans of Denver welterweight Duane “Bang” Ludwig. The preliminary fights will air on cable TV instead of pay-per-view. So Ludwig’s three-round bout against England’s Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, showing on FX, will give fans a chance to see if Ludwig can rebound.

In a January bout on FX, Ludwig was controlling the first round against Josh Neer, landing several heavy punches that shook his foe’s knees. But when Ludwig attempted a takedown, Neer countered with a choke hold for a submission.

So Ludwig (29-12) likely will be motivated against Hardy (23-10), who is on a four-fight losing streak that started with a loss to Georges St. Pierre in a UFC 111 championship bout in 2010.
