The Denver Fire Department has evacuated a high-rise condominium building in Governor’s Park after elevated carbon monoxide levels were detected at about 6:45 p.m.
Versailles Condominiums is located at 789 Clarkson St. Lt. Phil Champagne, a spokesman for the fire department, said no one has reported being ill.
Clarkson is closed between East Seventh and East Eighth avenues.
He was not sure how the carbon monoxide levels were detected, but said the source is under investigation.
Residents have been evacuated, and the fire department is in the process of ventilating the building.
He said safe carbon monoxide readers were below 35 parts per million, but crews found some readings in the 80s.
He said residents might be able to return the condominiums before 8:30 p.m., as levels had returned to normal at about 7:15 p.m.
Fire investigators were examining a boiler that serves the swimming pool.
The 11-story, 58-unit high-rise was built in 1958 and converted to condominiums in 2000, .
