BOULDER — Ted Turner’s bison herd won’t roam Boulder open space — at least not anytime soon.
The CNN founder had offered a small herd of 20 young bison to Boulder in October, but the city’s open space officials don’t believe their proposed home on the range — the open space north or south of U.S. 36 — is a suitable location.
The Boulder City Council voted 7-1 just before midnight Tuesday to remove those lands from consideration. They left open the possibility that the donation could be accepted sometime in the future at some as-yet-undetermined location but also instructed open space staff not to spend more time on the matter.
Turner could not be reached Wednesday for comment.
