Festival: Cool off at the Gunnison River
Through Saturday. Cool down at the Gunnison River Festival. A celebration of all things whitewater, the fest brings together serious sportspeople, amateurs and families in a salute to aquatic fun. Tonight, everyone’s invited to join in the Gunnison River Games, a collection of skill and luck challenges — they’ll all be on dry land, with live music accompanying. Saturday also features a Community Raft Float, a special kids’ zone, an “inflatable rodeo” and the Hooligan Race, where boaters create rafts out of non-boat items. 6-9 tonight. Legion Park, East Virginia Avenue and Teller Street, Gunnison. 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Most events at Gunnison Whitewater Park, U.S. 50 West and County Road 38. Registration required for some activities; $10-$30. Kids’ Zone is free.
