A man was killed early this morning after he was ejected from his Jeep Cherokee in a one-vehicle rollover accident in Wheat Ridge on Colorado 58, authorities say.

The name of the man has not been released pending notification of family members.

At about 5:18 a.m. a man was driving a Jeep Cherokee west on Colorado 58 near Gladiola Street when he swerved across the median into eastbound lanes, according to a news release by the Wheat Ridge Police Department.

While the Jeep rolled the driver was thrown from the vehicle and killed. The Jeep caught on fire during the accident.

Wheat Ridge police have closed eastbound Colorado 58 at McIntyre and the westbound lanes of the road at Eldridge for an investigation.

Authorities expect to reopen the road at about 10 a.m. today.
