Residents in northern Larimer County can relax, as authorities say a wildland fire northwest of Livermore will be contained at 3 acres later Tuesday evening.
No structures were damaged, and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating how the fire got started near the Mill Creek subdivision Tuesday afternoon about 25 miles northwest of Livermore.
Earlier, residents in the area north of Larimer County Road 80C and east of Larimer Country Road 59 were told to be ready to evacuate whether the fire took off in the drought-parched region that has spawned two big blazes so far this year.
The blaze Tuesday afternoon was reported north of the High Park fire burn area, which consumed 87,284 acres and 259 homes between June 9 and its containment on Sunday. The High Park fire caused one fatality.
The fire also is in proximity to the Hewlett fire that burned 7,685 acres between May 14 and May 22.
