COLORADO SPRINGS – —Retailer Big Lots is remodeling a former Linens N Things store in the First & Main Town Center that will become its third Colorado Springs store.
Contractors for the Columbus, Ohio-based Big Lots began construction late last month on the $227,890 project at 2975 New Center Point, near a Lowe’s Home Improvement Center, according to a building permit issued June 29 by the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department.
Company officials were not available for comment on plans for the store. Fred Veitch, vice president of commercial real estate for Nor’wood Development Group, developer of First & Main on the east side of the Springs, said he expects Big Lots to complete construction in about two weeks and open the 30,000-square-foot store within a month.
Big Lots operates more than 1,500 stores in the United States and Canada, including two in the Springs at 5085 N. Academy Blvd. and 1990 S. Academy Blvd., that sell a wide variety of closeout merchandise including groceries, electronics, furniture, housewares, toys and seasonal items.
