You only have Saturday and Sunday left to check out the “Lizards & Snakes” exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. More than 60 live animals from five continents including a Gila monster, Burmese python and green basilisk are on display. Museum goers can learn what they eat, how they eat and which ones are friend or foe through interactive exhibits, fossils and multimedia. Veggie tales
Due to its increasing popularity, this year’s VegFest Coloradois now a two-day annual health and environmental fair celebrating a plant-based diet. National speakers, exhibits, cooking demonstrations and tastings are included along with restaurants, music and activities for children that focus on “living a compassionate, cruelty-free plant-based lifestyle.” The festival is 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. “Art Reflects Nature” is the theme for the 26th annual Colorado Black Arts Festival happening Friday through July 15. Three stages will offer continuous music in blues, soul, hip-hop, jazz, gospel, reggae and more. New this year is a Children’s Pavilion for Art and Learning, African American Cultural Exchange, a fashion show by Urban Jungle and an African-American Fine Arts Gallery and Exhibit that will include paintings, photography, drawings,sculpture, carvings and glass. Got (goat) milk?
Compared to the Westminster Kennel Club Show for dogs, the National American Dairy Goat Association Show is an expo of dairy goats beginning Saturday and continuing daily with shows and competitions through July 14. Eight breeds of goats will be judged on such topics as general appearance, body capacity and dairy character. The association was organized in 1904 to collect, record and preserve the pedigrees of dairy goats and provide services to breeders. Its national show gets an average of 1,500 entries.
