Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have inadvertently taunted Denver fans with the (recent) possibility of a local show, but that long wait officially ended last week when the Boss extended his “Wrecking Ball” tour by 16 dates — including a Nov. 19 concert at the Pepsi Center. Springsteen hasn’t been here since 2009, so if you’re dying to go you should make a plan for getting tickets, as they’re expected to sell quickly. Passes are on sale Aug. 13. (Price TBA, TicketHorse)
Cirque du Soleil’s touring extravaganzas often seem separated by thematic contrivances that merely serve to spread the Montreal-based company’s brand ever-thinner. But “Quidam,” which plays Broomfield’s 1stBank Center Nov. 7-11 and Loveland’s Budweiser Events Center Nov. 14-18, looks and feels like something different, from its abstract visuals and muted color palate to its (dare we say) artfully restrained acrobatics. Tickets are on sale Friday. ($31.50-$75, )
Sheryl Crow plans to return to Colorado for a good cause as she headlines Flight for Life’s 40th anniversary concert with Amos Lee, funds from which will benefit the St. Anthony Health Foundation. Tickets for the Oct. 6 show at the 1stBank Center, presented by KBCO (the local radio titan also celebrating its 35th anniversary), are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($44.95- $79.50, TicketHorse)
Primus is virtuoso bassist Les Claypool’s most classic incarnation, but certainly not his only one. The rubber-necked alt-rock hero returns to the Fillmore Auditorium on Nov. 3 as part of a new “3D-enhanced” visual tour for his band, which will feature two different sets per night. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. ($42.50, )
Gov’t Mule will also stop by the Fillmore — a couple months before Primus on Sept. 13 — with no particular album to promote, although fans of Warren Haynes’ sturdy rock outfit rarely need a reason for the band to tour. In addition, Gov’t Mule will play an intimate “kick-off” show on Sept. 12 at the Gothic Theatre. Tickets for the concerts, with Anders Osborne, are on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($30-$35, or $65 for both shows; or )
Melissa Etheridge’s husky folk-rock and pop has garnered a fiercely loyal audience over the years, so they’ll no doubt be pleased to hear that the Grammy-winning songwriter is returning to Denver for an Oct. 9 show at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Friday. ($39-$104, TicketHorse)
