The Colorado Mycological Society hosts its Wild Mushroom Fair from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 12. Head to Mitchell Hall for cooking demonstrations, mushroom arts and crafts, a “kiddy korner” and visits with local mycologists. Guests are also invited to bring mushrooms in for identification. Life’s a peach

“Savor the Flavors” at the 44th annual Palisade Peach Festival happening Aug. 16-19. The popular four-day festival is a peach palooza of preserves, ice cream, salsas and pies along with contests, entertainment, live music, children’s activities, a parade, dance, pancake breakfast and tours. Irish singer, songwriter and musician Seamus Kennedy and the roots-rock band Enter the Haggis are among the entertainers at this weekend’s Competitions, exhibitions, the Parade of Clans (at noon each day), Irish step dancing, activities for children, haggis tasting and a genealogy tent are just some of the festivities included from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The many dog events include sheep herding, “Meet the Dogs”; an AKC Sanctioned B Match for Scottish Terriers; dog agility tests and a dogs-welcome 5K, presented by the Freedom Service Dogs of America. Saturday all-day admission is $18 for adults and ages 12 and older, $15 seniors (60+), active military and ages 7-11 (prices are $12 and $9 after 5 p.m. Saturday, $14 and $10 on Sunday), $60 Family Four-Pack (includes two adults and two tickets for ages 7-11 or seniors, $43 on Sunday); children 6 and under free entire weekend.
