Community College of Denver: Student Learning and Engagement Building

Address: 800 Curtis St. on the Auraria Campus

What is happening: After breaking ground in January, Community College of Denver is building a $28 million student learning facility. The 87,000-square-foot building will be a “one stop” service facility fostering under-one-roof admissions and registration, financial aid, and advising and testing.

The details: The project will be an energy-efficient building, taking advantage of daylight and natural light. It will include chilled beams for efficient cooling and radiant-heated floors. The building will also include a green roof covered in vegetation. The space is expected to affect all 12,000 students on campus by making the enrollment process easier and focused in one place. Students, staff and faculty will also be able to access a cafe and various meeting spaces. The building will also hold 14 new classrooms.

Developer: GH Phipps Construction Cos.

Architect: Oz Architects, Boora Architects
