BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder police have arrested a man they say kicked and stomped a 4-month-old puppy before dragging it by its leash.

Police say several witnesses reported a puppy being abused on Wednesday. Witnesses said the puppy was hit more than five times and stomped on its head two or three times.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), Edward McMorris was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty and obstructing a peace officer. McMorris said the puppy is named Tater.

Police say the puppy was listless and unresponsive when it was taken to a veterinarian where it was being evaluated.
