BOULDER, Colo.—Authorities have identified the climber who died from a fall in Boulder Canyon over the weekend as 28-year-old Treff Owen Carpenter of Greeley.

Boulder County Coroner Emma R. Hall released Carpenter’s name on Tuesday. Hall says the manner and cause of death are under investigation and an autopsy is planned.

Carpenter died Sunday. Officials say he fell about 70 feet onto a road while he was trying to secure a rope for other climbers.
