COLORADO SPRINGS- —Bret Milner is pretty excited for the start of the Air Force Falcons football season Saturday, but it’s not all about the team. It’s also about the sunglasses.
“I love going to Air Force games,” said the president of Maxx HD Sunglasses. “I’m there five or six times every year. Now that I can wear glasses that I made to the Air Force games, that’s going to be awesome.”
Maxx, a fast-growing company based in Monument just north of the Air Force Academy, makes collegiate-themed sunglasses for a range of teams, but the first batch of Air Force sunglasses just arrived — and left.
“We got them in yesterday and we have sold almost 3,000 pairs in less than 24 hours,” Milner said. “I think Air Force is actually our quickest seller. I think we have about 500 left.”
The sunglasses come in several styles, all featuring the “AF” logo and Air Force white and blue. They retail for $34.95 on Maxx’s website, www.maxxsunglasses.com, and are also available at local golf and sporting goods stores.
Maxx licenses the glasses through the Collegiate Licensing Company and pays the academy a royalty on each sale.
