GREELEY —Weld County commissioners unanimously approved the permit Wednesday for a new 6,000-head dairy north of Fort Lupton — a facility that, once fully operational, will help meet the increasing milk demands of a growing Leprino Foods cheese plant in Greeley and provide as many as 35 jobs.

However, not everyone at the meeting supported the project. Nearly 40 people attended the land-use hearing, with more than half of the crowd made up of concerned residents who live next to the 150-acre site of the future dairy.

They said they’re worried about the odor, dust, noise, traffic, pollution and insects.
