Sounds like you might be interested in Bertoia was a contemporary of Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames, and his daughter was featured in Bertoia’s chairs, jewelry, and monoprints are famed, and his tonal sculptures fill a “sonambient” barn on his estate in Pennsylvania. The estate is offering a limited-edition reproduction of a 1970 tonal sculpture to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Bertoia’s birth in 2015 with 144 bronze rods on a brass base with silver solder. Careers in the making
South Suburban Parks and Recreation presents its popular event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at South Suburban Ice Arena, 6580 S. Vine St. in Centennial. Wide-eyed children can climb inside and sit at the controls of a Zamboni, construction, emergency, park maintenance and recreational vehicles and equipment. Dust off those cobwebs
Take a look around your attic and basement for those ignored treasures and take them to the Aurora History Museum Foundation’s Antique Appraisal Fair scheduled 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 29. Dishes, jewelry, artwork, dolls, coins and other collectibles are welcome. There is a limit of five items per person and the cost is $5 each. Reservation deadline is noon Friday, call 303-739-6705. Sunday side up
The 34th annual is Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests can tour seven homes built from 1908 to 2004 and participate in Street Fair festivities provided by more than 60 businesses offering live music, food, a beer garden and wine along with a children’s play area. Proceeds from a silent auction benefit the Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. The Fair, with free admission, is on Forest Parkway between 19th Street and Montview Boulevard. Tickets for the home tour are $15, $13 in advance and available at all King Soopers stores or on the GreaterParkHill.org website.
