DENVER—Federal prosecutors say a juvenile has been charged with delinquency in connection with a wildfire in southwest Colorado.
The Weber Fire started south of Mancos on June 22. It burned more than 15 square miles and cost an estimated $3.2 million. It was fully contained July 5.
Jeffrey Dorschner, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, said Thursday court records indicate the youth gathered up leaves and underbrush around a bush and set it on fire, igniting nearby timber.
The name and gender of the juvenile has not been disclosed.
