How hot has the market become for ranch and main-floor master suite designs, as aging baby boomers tire of raking leaves and draining their sprinkler systems? Ask builder Rich Laws of Berkeley Homes, who picked up 13 lots at near Quebec and County Line Road, opened his model 90 days ago, and has now sold out three-quarters of his lots.
Berkeley’s enclaves in Centennial and Lone Tree are among 18 creations you can tour this weekend and next as part of the Best of 50-plus Housing Tour, extending all across metro Denver, north to Longmont and Loveland. “Our whole market is suffering from a limited supply of these kinds of homes,” Laws says. “It felt for several years like buyers were waiting to see, but now people are feeling more comfortable; and they can still get a deal on new home.” Beside Berkeley’s enclaves at Foxridge Place and ParkSide at RidgeGate, (west of I-25 on RidgeGate) you’ll find other south/southeast enclaves at Rocking Horse by Lennar, south of 470 on Gartrell near Eagle Bend; at Avalon at Inverness by Century Communities, just east of I-25 on County Line; Verona in west Highlands Ranch, south from 470 on Lucent to County Line and west; and at Villas at Great Plains Park by Kemmons Wilson, east of 225 on Iliff past Tower, Aurora. “People are looking for a simpler lifestyle with time to do things they want to do; it’s very attractive,” says Kemmons Wilson’s Ron Hickman. Kemmons Wilson, creator of Holiday Inn, has been in the ranch market ten years now, with tour homes not just in Aurora, but also Villas at Pleasant Valley, west of I-25 on Hwy 66 to Pace in Longmont. You can tour other north offerings at Century Communities’ Country Club Highlands, west of I-25 on 120th to Zuni in Westminster; at three Boulder Creek Builders enclaves at Steel Ranch, north on 96th from Northwest Pkwy in Louisville; at Kingsbridge, north of the Diagonal on Airport Road in Longmont, and at Quarry Lake, south of Eisenhower on Taft in Loveland; at Anthem Ranch by Del Webb, west of I-25 on Hwy 7 to Lowell in Broomfield; at Whisper Creek by Taylor Morrison Homes, north from Arvada on Indiana to W. 87th; and at Lennar’s Heritage at Todd Creek, east of I-25 on Hwy 7 to Yosemite, in Thornton. And you can tour Courtyard Traditions and Parkwood Homes at Stapleton – two builders that are drawing 50-plus buyers who want to be near their kids and grandkids in Stapleton, east of Quebec on E. 35th Avenue. (Planners are figuring there may be more than a few grandparents in town this weekend.) Check locations and prices on homes in the tour at BestOf50PlusTour.com.
