DENVER—A woman who pleaded guilty to taking more than $243,000 from a charity that produced firefighter calendars to raise money for a children’s hospital has been sentenced to 10 years’ probation.

Kirsten Hamling will also serve 90 days in jail with work release and pay restitution under a sentence handed down Thursday.

Prosecutors say Hamling created Fired Up For Kids as a nonprofit organization to raise money for the burn unit at Children’s Hospital Colorado. The group sold calendars with pictures of firefighters. Hamling was accused of improperly using money from the group for personal expenses, including airline tickets.
