GREELEY, Colo.—An 18-year-old Greeley man has pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide in the shooting death of his younger brother.
Jordan Limas entered his plea Monday. Prosecutors say that as part of Limas’ plea agreement, they will not seek prison time when Limas is sentenced at a hearing set for March 25. Possible penalties include probation or community corrections.
Police say Limas told investigators he had left a loaded, semiautomatic .22-caliber handgun on his dining room table in September, and his 11-year-old brother, Andre Limas, grabbed it. Limas says the gun went off when he tried struggled with Andre to get the gun back.
It’s not clear how Jordan Limas obtained the gun. He told investigators he had stolen it, although the gun had not been reported stolen.
