DOUGLAS COUNTY — A group trying to ease congestion on C-470 has agreed to adding a tolled express lane on the highway, but actual construction probably won’t begin for another two years.
The C-470 Corridor Coalition Policy Committee unanimously approved an express lane for a 13-mile stretch of C-470 between Interstate 25 and South Kipling Street.
The express lane was picked over other financing options for improving the highway, including a sales or property tax increase.
Officials said they still need to refine the conceptual design of the lane and get cost estimates before work can begin.
