BOULDER, Colo.—Officials at the University of Colorado at Boulder hope to hire a senior case manager by June to help lead a group aimed at recognizing “students of concern.”
The Daily Camera reports ( ) professionals from housing, police, student affairs and other departments meet weekly to review tips about such students. Tips are encouraged on students who show warning signs such as writing or talking about suicide, extended absences from class, making threats or having a fascination with violence.
Campus safety protocols are in the spotlight as the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth was evacuated Friday after officials confirmed 19-year-old Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was a registered student at the school. Aurora theater shooting suspect James Holmes was withdrawing from the CU Anschutz Medical Campus before the July attack that left 12 people dead.
