Mint Julep
Serves 1
Note: Simple syrup is simply equal parts sugar and water, simmered to a syrupy consistency, then cooled.
6 fresh mint leaves
3 ounces bourbon
2 tablespoons simple syrup
3 whole ice cubes
Crushed ice
Soda water
Mint sprig, garnish
1. Bruise mint leaves gently with fingers. Mix with bourbon, simple syrup and ice cubes; stir. Let stand several minutes.
2. Strain mixture into a julep cup filled with crushed ice. Top with soda water and mint.
