, one-half of 1990s hip-hop group has died, according to the Associated Press. Kelly, pronounced dead Wednesday evening, was 34 years old. The Fulton County Medical examiner’s office in Georgia says the cause of death appears to be a drug overdose.

Kriss Kross was the brainchild of super producer and So So Def Records CEO Jermaine Dupri. Kelly, known as “Mac Daddy” along with Chris Smith (“Daddy Mac”) were best known for their song “Jump,” on their 1992 debut album “Totally Krossed Out.” The backwards wardrobe-boasting group also spawned such hits as “I Missed the Bus” and made appearances on popular sitcoms of the ’90s like “A Different World.”

Kelly’s last major public performance was in February for So So Def’s 20th anniversary show.
