BOULDER, Colo.—Authorities say four people were hospitalized after a student released pepper spray or mace at a Boulder high school.
Police Sgt. Jim MacPherson tells The Daily Camera ( ) the Fairview High School student released the substance from a small canister in the student center at about 2:30 p.m. Friday. Four students were hospitalized, while two students and two staff members were treated at the scene.
The 17-year-old student accused of releasing the spray is facing a misdemeanor charge of criminal use of a noxious substance. His name has not been released.
The high school principal identified the substance as pepper spray, but police say it was mace.
