STERLING, Colo.—An inmate accused of killing his cellmate at the Sterling Correctional Facility has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the heat of passion.
The Sterling Journal-Advocate reports ( ) 41-year-old Paul Farley was sentenced Friday to 15 more years in prison after entering his plea.
Farley’s cellmate James Roemer died last year. Farley has said he “snapped” after Roemer verbally provoked him and possibly lunged at him.
Farley already is serving a 10-year sentence out of Pueblo County, plus a sentence out of Arizona for manslaughter in aiding a suicide and out of Kansas for aggravated robbery. In addition to his sentence in Roemer’s death, he must serve a six-year sentence for extortion out of Arizona and two federal sentences for mailing threatening communications.
