The Denver Post reports ( ) the RTD’s annual report categorizes bus accidents by division, type of crash, the direction the bus was moving, if the bus was at a stop, hours on duty and time of day. In nearly every category, there was a decrease in accidents.

Bus accidents were down 24 percent in 2012 compared to 2011—a year in which RTD buses were involved in four fatal accidents during four days in April alone, including the death of a cyclist.

In 2012, accidents between 8 p.m. and midnight were down 68 percent, and accidents involving a bus and a fixed object were down 24 percent.
