PUEBLO, Colo.—A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 96 years in prison for kidnapping and murdering a Pueblo man.
The Pueblo Chieftain reported Sunday ( ) that Xavier Rubalcaba-Lopez was sentenced last week for the death of Jeremy Naranjo, whose body was found in Colorado Springs in January 2012. Rubalcaba-Lopez, of Colorado Springs, struck a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree kidnapping.
He acknowledged forcing Naranjo into an SUV in Pueblo, shooting him in the head and dumping the body in Colorado Springs.
Rubalcaba-Lopez’s co-defendants—40-year-old Gustave Dreyer and 45-year-old Alfredo Velazquez—pleaded guilty to kidnapping and were sentenced in El Paso County to 13 and 20 years respectively.
