A car collided with a train near the Baker neighborhood Tuesday evening. Denver police confirmed two people were killed.
The incident was reported after 8:45 p.m. near West Bayaud Ave and South Kalamath Street, between Interstate 25 and South Santa Fe Drive.
A crushed black sedan could be seen on the tracks. A witness said the car ignored crossing signals, driving past the crossing arms and crashing into the tail end of the train.
At 9:15 p.m., police said on their Twitter account that they were still attempting to stop the train. They later said the train was successfully stopped.
