Remember this quirk of budgeting
Consumer blog recently shared the findings of a study on budgeting for big-ticket items. They say that shopping with a price in mind can lead to spending up to 50 percent more than if you hadn’t had a price in mind at all. It may have something to do with having already thought about price and not actively considering while actually shopping.
It sounds odd, but the blog recommends setting a budget anyway — because knowing you’re susceptible to this may be enough to defend you against it.
