ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—Authorities say a man who walked away from a halfway house is suspected of shooting an employee and a resident.

The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office said both people were wounded when a man walked into the facility early Friday and started shooting.

Deputies say the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect was identified as 46-year-old Francis Pizzo. Sheriff’s officials say he was sentenced to three years in community corrections on March 29 and was serving his sentence at the halfway house. He failed to return there Wednesday after an approved leave.

The sheriff’s department says the halfway house is a contracted facility for the Colorado Department of Public Safety to help prisoners work their way back into society.
