LONGMONT, Colo.—This year’s Fourth of July fireworks show in Longmont is expected to go on as planned after it was canceled last year during a heat wave.

The Longmont Times-Call reported Monday ( ) the company that was under contract to do last year’s show agreed to delay it until this year for about $2,000 extra. City officials say the company could have charged a 50 percent cancellation fee but didn’t.

The Skyline Kiwanis Club had donated $15,000 toward the cost of the show. City officials say they returned the money after the cancellation, and the club donated the money again this year.

The 30-minute show is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. Thursday at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont.
