With the Fiery Furnaces on hiatus since 2011, has kept the music going without her brother, Matthew Friedberger. The torch remains lit with her new solo album, “Personal Record,” released early last month via Merge Records. Wednesday on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” Friedberger performed “Stare at the Sun” from the new release.
“Personal Record” — her second solo album — represents a more concise and listener friendly effort than some of Fiery Furnaces more long-winded material.
Wednesday’s performance had a contained eccentric quality by Friedberger that displayed a strong personal development between albums. Bummer for U.S. fans, because you’ll only be able to catch her and those bangs next month at the FYF in Los Angeles.
