On this week’s new track, “Hold On We’re Going Home,” Drake embraces the full potential of his R&B side. And to be honest, it fits him far better than his pseudo-thug/tough guy act.
Singing lines like, “Cus you’re a good girl and you know it / I know exactly who you could be,” over a slick disco beat seems natural. Especially compared to lyrics from “All Me,” which he released last week, “I ask to please excuse my table manners I was making room for the table dancers,” this is the smooth talking Drake — more Freddie Jackson than 2 Chainz. “Hold On We’re Going Home” is another of the many tracks Drake has released leading up to his new album, “Nothing Was the Same,” which is out on Sept. 17.
This year he’s also released “Started From the Bottom,” “Jodeci Freestyle,” and
New Drake song, “Hold On We’re Going Home”
