Colorado Springs authorities are not taking any chances as another storm is forecasted to hit El Paso County.
U.S. 24 was closed preemptively for a while Tuesday afternoon between Cave of the Winds and Cascade, according to the Colorado State Patrol Twitter account. The highway reopened a little before 4 p.m.
That stretch of road has flooded multiple times during storms the past few weeks. The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest burn areas until 9 p.m.
More than 20 cars were stranded in high water on the highway Friday.
Two people have been killed by the recent flash floods in El Paso County.
