Commerce City police are investigating two car-pedestrian accidents that happened Thursday.

The first accident happened around 5:30 p.m. when a 3-year-old boy allegedly opened the rear door of a truck driven by his father as the vehicle traveled north on U.S. 85, according to a news release from Commerce City police.

The boy, who was unrestrained, suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

The second accident happened around 5:45 p.m. when a car hit a 64-year-old man while he walked south across East 72 Avenue, the release states.

The man was taken to a hospital and the driver remained on the scene, according to the release.

The pedestrian’s condition was unknown.

The Commerce City Police Department Accident Investigation team is investigating both incidents, according to the release.
