ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Free- agent quarterback Matt Leinart signed with the Bills on Sunday.
Leinart, a former first-round draft pick, fills an immediate need at Buffalo’s most injury-depleted position. The Bills later added QB Thaddeus Lewis in a trade that sent linebacker Chris White to the Lions.
Kevin Kolb left the Bills’ game Saturday with concussionlike symptoms. First-round pick EJ Manuel, a rookie from Florida State, is out the rest of the preseason (knee injury).
Pryor getting his chance
ALAMEDA, Calif. — Terrelle Pryor will have the stage to himself in a final audition to win the Raiders’ starting quarterback job.
Coach Dennis Allen said Matt Flynn won’t play in Oakland’s preseason finale Thursday, opening the door for Pryor, a former Ohio State star, to make his first NFL start.
“It’s probably more of a precautionary measure on my part than it is anything else,” said Allen, a former Broncos defensive coordinator. “We’ll get a chance to see Terrelle this week with the first-unit offense up against Seattle, and we’ll see how he does.”
Bulluck charged in robbery
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Former Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck was charged with felony robbery after a cab driver accused him of taking money during an argument. The driver was waiting outside a bar for a paid fare early Sunday when Bulluck approached him and asked for a ride, police said. The driver said he declined and Bulluck grabbed him by his shirt, took a $100 bill and fled.
In a statement to The Nashville Tennessean, Bulluck described the incident as a “misunderstanding between me and the cab driver about getting my money back for a service not rendered.”
Footnote. Giants free safety Stevie Brown will miss the entire regular season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The injury happened Saturday.
