Chris Young’s sensitive country baritone will fill the Budweiser Events Center on Sept. 28 as the Tennessee native tours behind new studio album “A.M.,” which drops a couple weeks before the show. Even in his 70s, blues legend Buddy Guy has been known to take his trademark stroll through the crowd and climb the stairs of a venue while playing guitar — even when that venue is Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Guy will play a more navigable room at his next Colorado stop, however, as he headlines the Boulder Theater on Nov. 12 with Tom Hambridge. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Sept. 6. ($39.50-$75, )
The Boulder Theater, which has also been known to host a Warren Miller film or “Big Lebowski” screening here and there, will show nine selected works as part of Colorado’s “Luna-Fest,” a short-film festival on Nov. 7 by, for and about women. Tickets are on sale. ($11-$15, )
Always-sturdy jam band moe. will return to Colorado for a pair of dates at the Ogden Theatre Dec. 6-7. Tickets are on sale at 10 a.m. Aug. 31. ($30 single show; $50 2-day pass, )
Cults was a fun addition to The UMS schedule in July as the melodic girl-guy indie band tried mightily to get the crowd dancing at the outdoor stage. But while the muted sound mix may have pleased the neighbors, it made for a slightly less-than-compelling live experience. Now that the band is headlining the Bluebird Theater on Nov. 20, we may just get our chance to freak out a bit harder. Tickets are on sale. ($18-$20, )
Despite a number of similar events around the area, Denver has never had a big, long-running jazz festival to call its own. Organizers of the Denver Jazz Festival are hoping that changes when they debut the event on Oct. 5 at the (somewhat) odd venue of the National Western Complex, with performances from Brian Culbertson, Tower of Power, Hiroshima, Kenny Lattimore, Horns of Plenty (featuring Darren Rahn and Althea Rene) and more. Tickets are on sale. ($47-$115, )
